Numbers don’t show
How many unhoused (Homeless) people do you think we have in Canada? Google says 85K as of last year. Now, what if I told you those numbers are only calculated with "known" Data
Sarnia has a "by-names list." We don't agree with this list on ethical grounds, and we don't like it. This is a list of names of people who are unhoused (homeless) in Lambton County. Now they need this list because it affects the funding the county gets for homeless prevention and services. This list contains only the names of those they have bribed to provide their information for inclusion or those who do so willingly.
From professional knowledge, our list for our community could easily be doubled. So imagine what that number would look like for Canada as a whole if ours could easily be doubled.
If the unhoused population has grown 23% (ish) over a year in Canada, what is going to look like as we head into times that are becoming more expensive and work is limited?
Our housing crisis in Sarnia-Lambton and Canada is going to grow. For families who are housed but barely making it now, what will the future look like for them?
