Toliet

As a not-for-profit leader, I question myself and the work we do every day. Are we doing enough? How will we fund this? Are we making a difference?

How do we grow faster to help more? and so many more!

Then something happens to show me that we are. That we are small but impactful.

One of the families who uses our snack program lives in the same building as one of our volunteers, and that volunteer regularly drops off their snack bag. To someone on the outside, it seems like nothing.

One morning, at 3 am, this volunteer woke to knocking on her door, and there was a child who didn't know where else to go for help. Their toilet broke, the bathroom was flooding, the water wouldn't stop, and they didn't know what to do.

Knowing that, in a situation like that, they could go to our volunteers at any time made our week, to say the least. To most, it's snacks that are for kids. For us, it's creating meaningful connections with families. That they know we will be there without judgment ALWAYS!!!

The volunteer helped ensure the water was turned off, and I followed up the next day to make sure they were all okay and could reach building maintenance to get a new toilet.
